Although it is possible to rent a car in Quito and drive yourself, we recommend leaving the driving to us. Most find driving in Ecuador stressful. Our drivers are safe, reliable, professional, and a valuable part of our team. Once you arrive in Mindo a car won’t be necessary. Our town is very walkable and you’ll enjoy getting to know the area by doing as the locals do. Whenever we can, we walk! When a car is needed, private taxis are quite affordable and support the local economy in a significant way. Please note: the UIO Mariscal Sucre Quito airport is located a significant distance from the center of Quito. When requesting pick up or drop off to a Quito hotel, please be aware of the difference between airport-centric locations and those located in the city itself.

Driving on Your Own

Be sure to use the directions found at this link if you will be arriving in your own vehicle. Although GPS navigation systems can be useful, our experience is that it is not wise to rely on them in rural areas. Private, secure parking is available on-site at Casa Divina.

Transport by Bus

Transporte Flor del Valle leaves from La Ofelia bus station (NOT the north terminal in Carcelén) in the north side of Quito behind the soccer stadium La Liga.

Cost: about $4 per person one way

Travel time: about 2.5 hrs

Please note:

Arrive 15 minutes prior to departure if you have purchased your ticket ahead of time.
If you must purchase a ticket, allow an extra 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Be sure to alert us of your expected arrival so we can pick you up at the station in Mindo.
Regarding safety: Pickpocketing is common in and around Quito. It is wise to keep a close watch on your personal belongings. Luggage stored below the bus by an employee of Flor del Valle is secure. Unfortunately, theft on busses has risen. Anything carried with you onto the bus should be kept in your lap. We do not recommend placing anything under the seat or on the interior luggage racks.
